Spring School Elementary Class — Course Details

Spring break! A painting & 3D art program for elementary and junior high students
At GAJYUKU, we treasure each child’s individuality and imagination, and believe that the heart of learning art lies in the discoveries, questions, fun and joy that arise during the creative process. We also hope children will feel the joy of expression — something that goes beyond drawing and making — by sharing with others what happened while they created.
Our teachers are art specialists with their own creative practice. Drawing on that experience, they hold to our policy that the creative process matters most, and nurture each child’s individuality and sensibility.
It is also a great way to support emotional development and school arts & crafts ahead of the new school year.
Programs grounded in the theory and practice of painting and 3D art — introductory painting courses for preschool and elementary children
Just as every child’s sensibility is different, so is their pace of making. That’s why GAJYUKU’s Spring School runs as a 3-day continuous curriculum (basics, development, application). Sometimes no discovery comes on day 1. On day 2, a child may discover an idea that leads somewhere new. On day 3, they will feel the joy of giving shape to what they imagined and thought. Taking time to make things brings a real sense of achievement and growth.
Although 3 days is a short time, we hope you will make use of GAJYUKU’s art program in your child’s education.
“Introduction to Watercolor” ☆Draw well with shape and shadow☆
For elementary students: basic shading and color practice
□ Syllabus
Day 1: “Drawing Geometric Solids” — observing 3D structure and light and shade — (let’s observe and draw the shading of basic forms)
Day 2: “Underdrawing” — posture, composition, observation — (let’s learn to draw light and shadow, and think about the balance of the composition)
Day 3: “Still Life” — observation, depiction, coloring — (let’s observe color and detail, and paint with watercolors)
□ Aims
Observe what is in front of you carefully, and copy its shape. Copy its color.
Drawing basic forms (geometric solids), children learn how to see the forms and light and shade of three-dimensional objects and how they relate, then take on the challenge of drawing complex forms and expressing light and shade by drawing plants (flowers). Then, using color, they experience livelier expression, the layering of light, shade and color, and observing and drawing details.
□ Lesson time
13:00-14:30 (90 minutes)
□ Schedule
3 days: Tuesday, March 31, Wednesday, April 1, and Thursday, April 2, 2026
