The roots of creativity form in childhood — but so do fixed ideas

Painting and 3D art are primitive activities that combine color, form, space, ideas, materials and more, and give them tangible shape through one’s own eyes and hands. Not only in art: creativity shapes the times, and the times give birth to new creativity. The roots of that creativity are formed by all kinds of experiences in childhood, and we see it as our mission to offer and guide those experiences through painting and making. Fixed ideas that hold back creativity also begin to take root at this age — but because painting and 3D art demand objectivity, they let us nip those fixed ideas in the bud early.

Painting and 3D art lesson — Elementary Class

The joy and sense of achievement of making something with your own hands always builds confidence

When their own ideas become a painting, or a lump of clay becomes a shape, the joy and sense of achievement of having drawn and made something with their own hands always builds children’s confidence — confidence that will one day carry over into all kinds of fields. Their teachers praise their free expression, and children become absorbed. We guide them into a happy cycle of wanting to draw more and make more!

The process is the artwork

To nurture each child’s individuality, we don’t make everyone keep in step; we encourage children to enjoy creating to the fullest at their own pace. Nor do we demand results (finished works). What matters is the creative process, in which children feel, discover and think about all sorts of things. In other words, we believe the process itself is the result — the artwork.
Alongside regular lessons, we hold an annual exhibition, so children can study art broadly.

No two forms of expression are the same

In painting and 3D art, being different from others is what matters most. Drawing out each child’s individuality and turning it into expression requires individual guidance.
That is why GAJYUKU limits classes to 10 children and staffs each class according to its size, so we can fully support every child’s creative work.
