Preschool Class — Course Details

An ongoing art program for children aged 3–6
(kindergarten & nursery school)

For young children, learning begins with painting and making

Before they learn letters and numbers, young children draw a single line on paper and knead clay as if savoring the feel of it in their hands and fingers, discovering mass and volume. Scribbles and muddy hands — that’s exactly as it should be. Through experience and learning, these primitive acts gradually turn into expression as children grow.
Young children can’t yet control their hands well, nor capture forms. That is precisely why we want to give them, at this age, rich and primitive art experiences through quality painting and 3D work — experiences that will resonate with their sensibilities for years to come.

Painting and 3D art lesson — Preschool Class

It’s never too early to know the joy and sense of achievement of making something with your own hands

When their own ideas become a painting, or a lump of clay becomes a shape, the joy and sense of achievement of having drawn and made something with their own hands builds children’s confidence — confidence that will one day carry over into all kinds of fields. Their teachers praise their work, and at home it goes up on display. We guide children into a happy cycle of wanting to draw more and make more!

The process is the artwork

To nurture each child’s individuality, we don’t make everyone keep in step; we encourage children to enjoy creating to the fullest at their own pace. Nor do we demand results (finished works). What matters is the creative process, in which children feel, discover and think about all sorts of things. In other words, we believe the process itself is the result — the artwork.
Alongside regular lessons, we hold an annual exhibition, so children can study art broadly.

No two forms of expression are the same

In painting and 3D art, being different from others is what matters most. Drawing out each child’s individuality and turning it into expression requires individual guidance.
That is why GAJYUKU limits classes to 10 children and staffs each class according to its size, so we can fully support every child’s creative work.
