Parent & Child Class — Course Details
Meeting color, touching shape — a first taste of drawing and making
Children and parents enjoy painting and making together
The Parent & Child Class aims to nurture a feeling heart and the urge to express, through art, while children enjoy creative play with Mom (or Dad) and friends. “Will it be OK when my child can’t even hold a pencil properly yet…?” Yes — children of this age can’t yet use their hands skillfully. That’s exactly why it’s so important to give their hands (and bodies) good stimulation through clay and drawing, guiding them toward a rich sensibility. Let’s spend a happy time together, parent and child, through art in a relaxed studio. We hope you will make use of GAJYUKU’s art programs in your child’s education — as preparation for preschool or as early childhood education.

Session 1 “Color Water”
☆Lots of colors from just 3!☆
A first “color experience” with paint in the 3 primary colors!
Painting 1: “Touching Color”
□ Syllabus
Our first color play! We mix lots of colors from the 3 primaries and draw with droppers. Fish swimming in a sea of color? Birds flying through the sky? Let’s paint a world of color together with the teacher.
□ Aims
Using the three primary colors, children experience how color works with colored water, sparking an interest in color. The goal is to enjoy color by placing colors side by side and mixing them on the paper.

□ Syllabus

□ Aims
Using everyday pebbles, children have fun discovering — with color, too — how dots come together to make lines, surfaces and shapes.

A painting challenge: “collage” with paint and crayons!
Painting 2: “Painting Outer Space”
□ Syllabus
Our first drawing! Draw all kinds of lines with crayons, cut them out, and they become stars. Make an all-black background with paint and collage (cut and paste) them on, and outer space appears. Tell us all about your space!
□ Aims
Understanding shape is very hard for little children. By combining a simple shape — a circle — in different colors and sizes, new stories are born. The goal is to expand the imagination through combinations of shape and color, and to spark an interest in shape.

□ Syllabus
Let’s cook with clay! Knead, roll it out, chop chop — move your hands a lot and practice making. To finish, arrange it on a plate and pour on some gooey sauce!
□ Aims
Clay, which can take any shape, is wonderful stimulation for the hands. Children discover that they can change its form by rolling and pinching, and feel how shape and color convey emotion.

Painting 3: “Knowing Size”
□ Syllabus
Draw your face and clothes inside the outline of your body that Mom traced! Use your whole body to draw a life-size you, and experience what “size” means.
□ Aims
By learning the size and shape of their own hands, feet and body, children become interested in the size and shape of things. The goal is also to draw freely, using the whole body.
