GAJYUKU Art School for Children Musashi-Koyama Studio

Children’s painting & 3D art classes in Musashi-Koyama

A 6-minute walk from Musashi-Koyama Station on the Tokyu Meguro Line. An art school where children from age 3 through elementary, junior high and high school learn painting, 3D art and arts & crafts in a dedicated studio. Since opening in 2012, it has welcomed children from Musashi-Koyama, Nishi-Koyama, Ebara and Meguro-honcho, and even from the Shirokane-Takanawa direction.

What we value at Musashi-Koyama Studio

GAJYUKU teaches hands-on painting and 3D art according to the same educational approach at every studio. Our goal is not a “polished” piece of work or “being good at it.” We believe the joy and sense of achievement that come from making something with their own hands is what builds children’s confidence. We don’t make everyone keep in step; we value time when each child can enjoy creating at their own pace. What matters is not the finished piece but what children feel, discover and think along the way. The process itself is the artwork. And throughout the year, the children immerse themselves in that creative process as they work toward our annual exhibition. The streets around Musashi-Koyama Station are lined with busy shopping arcades, but Musashi-Koyama Studio sits a little way from them, on a quiet side street with little traffic.

Small classes, so we can give every child our attention

To bring out each child’s individuality, Musashi-Koyama Studio limits classes to 10 children and staffs each class according to its size. Classes are taught by art specialists who work as artists, designers and illustrators.
